The Shop

Sole proprietor of Coriander Girl opened in September 2009
With a passion for flowers Alison decided to leave her acting career behind to open her very own flower/antique shop in the heart of Parkdale.
With no formal floral education behind her, she mastered her technique by slaving away nights until she mastered the trade inside and out. Alison has recently been asked on CTV’s The Marilyn Denis show to share her floral skills with fun DIY projects and how to segments.

A.K.A Telliander
Wedding co-ordinator, Alison’s co-ordinator and Olive’s (shoppup) mama.

When Tellie isn’t having a consultation with a bride, she’s designing beautiful table arrangements, hand tied bouquets and most recently her claim to fame, floral crowns. This girl has got it. She zips around the shop merchandising everything into magazine worthy perfection, and that’s all before noon.
Like Alison, Tellie has a love for vintage goods and looks for every opportunity to incorporate beautiful old things into her decorating scheme. Coriander Girl only works with vintage vessels and brides are encouraged to bring in their own glassware which helps the environment and their overall budget as well.

A.K.A Paul Westlake
Coriander Contractor, Coriander garbage man, Coriander caterer, and most recently Coriander wedding setup guy
When Alison approached her dad with a business plan and a picture of the shop she had just rented, first they hugged, maybe cried a little bit (she has her dads sensitivity) and then got down to planning the little shops overhaul. Coriander contractor strapped on his tool belt and away they went. With the tiniest budget but gigantic vision the little shop quickly became the little charmer. The Coriander Dad helped bring Alison’s vision to life and when the doors opened on September 2nd 2009, they cried again!
Paul Westlake is C Diddy’s real name but he goes by so many pseudonyms because he does so many things. Coriander Wedding set up has recently been added to his arsenal and we couldn’t be more excited! Coriander Dad has officially blown us all away.

Head of Accounting
When Harry isn’t busy crunching actual coriander and parsley leaves, he’s busy crunching the numbers at Coriander Girl. Let’s just say he’s better at eating vegetables than balancing the books. We may need to out source this position, please inquire within.

Administration

The newest addition to the Coriander Fam, Olive Hunt has recently accepted the full time position of administrative assistant. When she isn’t napping in her crib, chasing after shoe laces and sticks, this little pup really helps to keep the administrative duties in check. She even spel cheked this dockumint.

At Coriander Girl you’ll find a unique array of seasonal fresh flowers, hand picked antiques and locally made craft. We are a full service wedding florist and offer floral delivery across the greater Toronto Area.

Imagine my surprise when I was watching the holiday show for Marilyn Dennis and on the screen came a voice I recognized! And there you were! Alison! I am so proud of your shop and vision and will definetley pop by in the new year to see you and say hello! Hope you remember me? Cathie Kelly, your former Caban store manager.

Having grown up in a 'florist family', I so enjoy segments on shows like Marilyn Dennis, which involve flower arranging and/or gardening. Recently I watched one of Marilyn's shows which featured you decorating the fireplace mantels in her home. Somehow you seemed familiar to me, so I happened to google Coriander Girl today to find out more about your business. To my surprise I realize I knew you as a little girl, your brother Josh and your father Paul. Now that is going back to the early/mid 1980's. Congratulations on doing so well, Alison! The direction you have taken, in the florist business, is very fresh, naturally beautiful and most inspiring! I hope to visit your lovely shop one day. Heather (Bolton)
