Damage control

I removed the original photograph from my blog but will keep the censored version up for context. It makes me really sad to think anyone saw that and thought less of me. I honestly felt it was fine at the time but what I'm comfortable with someone else might not be. It's not so bad, I don't want to over dramatize this but if I've upset people with the photograph I want to apologize for it. My feelings remain the same however, maybe extreme, but I'd much prefer my kids(when I have some) see love making over people having their limbs blown off.
I will be more mindful of what I write in my blog. I know I'm free to write whatever I want but I should have thought that one through a little better. Perhaps I was a tad bit sleep deprived. This blog is public and I should consider my audience at all times.
I'm still me though, and I'll still post the occasional gangsta rap video but I'll do it with one eye on that very fine line.
Please accept my sincere apology.
Alison

hey,

i just discovered your blog and am so excited to come check out your shop (i live a swift bike ride downhill away)..and i wanted to let you know that i thought the post cards were pretty awesome.
i was slightly surprised to see them on a flower-store blog, but also pumped. I feel like you are my kind of flower store -- cute but not uptight... with a sense of humour. nice.

let's hear it for grown-up flower stores and grown-up blogs.

that said, I suppose it all depends on your intended audience...if it includes a large contingent of parents and young kids who you think might not be able to handle the seventies bush...well, then...do what you gotta do.

I just don't think you should have to feel so sad.
and for what it's worth, I'll take naked bodies over blown off limbs any day as well.

blog added to google reader.

Hm..I guess it is true, depends on who you want your audience to be. But at the same time, you shouldn't have to write with that in mind -- you should just write write write and then whoever you attract is the audience you're meant to have. Right? It just gets tricky when you're a girl who has a wacky sense of humour, a beautiful flower shop, and a taste for gangsta rap. So then you end up with a mixed up readership of people who love 70's porn pics (ME!), those who love gangsta rap, and Moms who read the blog with their kid beside them on the couch.
I was NOT offended.

Drop the rock!! We (your readers) all love you and your infectious enthusiasm for life. Everyone can take what they like and leave the rest when reading anyone's blog. I'm often taken aback when a favorite blogger gets into a big religious fervor, but hey, I just skip on to the next post. Or the next blog. Repeat to yourself: You are fabulous. Because you are.

I think you are being too hard on yourself! I think that with blogs you are not tied to what you think/know readers want to read. You should write about what you want and if people don't like it, they can find another blog! Being yourself is what has made people love your blog/your store/your style so far, so don't start censoring yourself now.

Maybe just add a warning for your parents ;-)

I have to admit that I'm sorry I found this blog too late, and can only see your censored version! The cards look sweet & funky. I'd prefer to look at vintage porn over most movie trailers these days.

The other thing is, to find those images in the context of your flowers and the general beauty that is Coriander Girl - this changes everything.

I think you are being too hard on yourself - you really didn't do anything wrong.

Also now a fan! Sorry to sound so cliche, but Make Love not War comes to mind at this moment and whoever had a problem with that?!
